Laryngology

The laryngology and phoniatrics services specialise in the treatment of benign laryngeal conditions, and the restoration of voice, airway and swallow. Joint clinics are undertaken with Speech and Language Therapists (SLT).

Conditions treated include:

  • Benign vocal cord lesions: cysts, nodules, polyps, sulci, varices and haematomas
  • Care of the professional voice
  • Dysphagia and aspiration
  • Laryngeal trauma
  • Laryngopharyngeal reflux
  • Muscle tension dysphonia
  • Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (benign tumours caused by HPV)
  • Spasmodic dysphonia
  • Vocal cord paralysis
